West Virginia Grand Bash announces new barbecue cook off and concert

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Ticket holders for this year’s West Virginia Grand Bash will be treated to an exclusive barbecue cook off and concert headlined by Steve Augeri, former lead vocalist of Journey, on Sunday, June 11 at the Monongalia County Ball Park.

The Grand Bash Barbeque Cook Off and Concert, presented by the Mountain Loggers Cooperative Association, in collaboration with the Hoss Foundation, and West Virginia Radio Corporation, is a new addition to the West Virginia Grand Bash, which has become one of North Central West Virginia’s largest events, offering sell-out crowds the opportunity to win more than $600,000 in cash and prizes, all benefiting WVU Medicine Children’s. 

Gates will open at noon, and ticket holders can enjoy barbecue foods from various vendors around the stadium. The Davisson Brothers Band and its blend of country, southern rock, and bluegrass, will get the music started at 1 p.m. 

At 3 p.m., singer/songwriter Augeri, who has performed around the globe, will perform songs from his eight years as Journey’s front man along with material with his current group, The Steve Augeri Band. 

The West Virginia Grand Bash will follow on Saturday, June 24 and will offer ticket holders a chance at more than 50 prize drawings, including a Ford F-150 Raptor, Yamaha Waverunner FX Cruiser HO, a 2017 Jeep Patriot Sport SE, a Kenyan Family Safari, a 2017 Harley-Davidson Night Rod Special, a Maui trip for two, and cash prizes, including the $100,000 grand prize and much more. 

Proceeds from both events provide child- and maternal-wellness funding to WVU Medicine Children’s. Last year, more than 64,000 patients visited the hospital and clinics more than 277,000 times. Support for events like this increases the number of services available to West Virginians and those around the region. 

“The West Virginia Grand Bash has provided much-needed funding to WVU Medicine Children’s, and we believe that adding a second event will raise more awareness of what we do,” Cheryl Jones, R.N., director of WVU Medicine Children’s, said. “These funds support our mission to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.

The $100 Grand Bash ticket, which can be purchased until June 10, provides holders the chance to attend both events for one price. The $20 guest passes are only available for the Grand Bash, not the Barbecue Cook Off and Concert.
