What a difference a day can make - from Dean Borgia

What a difference a day can make - from Dean Borgia

On Wednesday, November 8, 2017, the ambassadors who believe in the School of Dentistry’s devotion to education and oral health stunned our Health Sciences community and academic colleagues with their generosity.

The university launched its first-ever Day of Giving aimed at the university community including alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends of WVU.

Your Day of Giving has become one of our greatest days of thanksgiving at the School of Dentistry.

During that one-day, critical fundraising mission, we watched donors open hearts and wallets to support scholarships to help fulfill students’ dreams, commit to funding to help us recruit the most talented faculty and entrust us to put their dollars toward our school’s greatest needs.

By the end of the 24-hour campaign, more than 70 gifts had been made to the School of Dentistry for more than $300,000.

Watching School of Dentistry donations tally on the Day of Giving website only cemented what we already know.  Dental professionals are up early (or late). Many of your contributions came shortly after midnight and continued in the early morning hours of fundraising. The loyalty shown to our school also reemphasizes the family connection we have and our collective mission to provide the best education, patient care and advancements in dentistry that can be found anywhere.

I have no words that can adequately describe my deep feelings of gratitude, and I am humbled by your acts of selfless altruism.

University-wide numbers are being finalized and will be shared with you as we receive the information.

Let’s go Mountaineers!
