Free health screenings available at WVU’s Healthy Living Fair in Fairmont on Sept. 20

Flu shots, Hemoglobin A1C tests and free health care screenings will be available at West Virginia University’s Healthy Living Fair in Fairmont on Sept. 20 at the Knights of Columbus from 10 a.m.– 2 p.m.

Healthcare practitioners and professional students from WVU schools and departments of pharmacy, audiology, speech and language pathology, music therapy, physical therapy and occupational therapy will be available at various stations to offer screenings and answer health-related questions.

The fair includes over 10 stations and is free to the public.

Flu shots are also available. Eligible participants can bill Medicare, Medicaid and PEIA for a $0 co-pay with their flu shot. Individuals without insurance can be vaccinated for $25.

“Healthy living fairs encourage lifestyle changes. Instead of spending days at doctor offices, community members are able to visit multiple specialists in a single day,” Amy Summers, program specialist for the WVU Office of Interprofessional Education, said.

Additional Healthy Living Fairs take place in Morgantown on Sept. 27 and in Kingwood on Nov. 8.
