Karen Clark, M.D., has been named chief and medical director for the WVU Healthcare Department of Care Management, effective January 2015. She is the first person to hold this position.
In this role, Dr. Clark will serve as Care Management’s primary physician executive. She will function as an expert clinical resource for the department and work closely with staff to prevent and mediate claim denials, ensure medical necessity is met and documented, and aid in developing new care models.
Clark will work closely with Shanthi Manivannan, M.D., and Jason McChesney, M.D., who will continue to provide medical directorship to Care Management and the denials department in Patient Financial Services.
Clark will continue to see patients as a faculty member in the WVU Department of Medicine’s Section of Internal Medicine.
