Video: Dr. Anthony (Tom) Borgia presents Day of Giving message

Learn about the difference you've made and the difference you can make.

Your loyalty as School of Dentistry mountaineers is evident in the relationships you have kept, the knowledge you have shared and the goodwill you have shown.

First, on this third annual WVU Day of Giving, we must thank you for representing us so well.

Part of our mission as we celebrate November 13 as Our University, Our Future and Our Day is to continue the betterment of our oral healthcare education programs and patient care and to make sure we represent a source of pride for you, our alumni and friends.

Secondly, we hope some of the recent investments in your alma mater rejuvenate the gratification, satisfaction and joy you felt when you earned that degree.

To recap, or catch you up:

  • Our Dr. W. Robert Biddington Center for Dental Innovation, the third such center in the nation and first in the eastern United States, has been up and running for nearly three years. Through a partnership with the Center for Research and Education in Technology, Inc. (CRET), the WVU School of Dentistry has access to recently developed furnishings and patient care devices from more than 25 product suppliers and manufacturing companies. Dental and dental hygiene students are training, and in some cases treating their patients, in the center’s state-of-the-art operatories. Take an online tour and then come by for a visit.
  • The dean’s office and our oral and maxillofacial surgery department now anchor the main entrance to Health Sciences Center North. The move for the school’s senior administrative office allowed the school to obtain space for an academic affairs suite with updated student affairs offices. And, have you seen the plans for renovating our Urgent Care Clinic?
  • And this locker hallway update! Our students, faculty and staff are all too familiar with the dated dental hallway outside the student clinic and our simulation labs. We are proud to announce it is NOT the way your remember it. It has been transformed into a light and inviting space with new lockers. Find out how you can leave a lasting impression on new students through this campaign sparked by alumni. Click to participate.

Thirdly, it is important that you know our direction for the future. As our academic programs strengthen with board certified faculty, and as our students excel in our labs, clinics and post graduate and post doc programs, we want our facilities to better reflect our professionalism and commitment to patients.

As you consider Our University, Our Future and Our Day, we ask that you continue to support our renovation, growth and facility improvements of the WVU School of Dentistry
